WE BAKE STORIES

Think back to your childhood and I’ll bet you remember blowing out your candles on a very special birthday cake. Or maybe you remember going to your local bakery with your grandparents to buy your favourite treat or even baking with your Mum or Dad at home on a weekend.

Those are incredible feelings and when you look back on those good times it’s a truly meaningful experience. Cakes are more than the sum of their parts to me; they’re more than a mix of flour, butter, sugar and eggs. Cakes are stories; a tale to indulge in or a happy memory to look back on.

Which is why, at ‘King Good Cakes, we don’t just bake cakes; we bake stories. By showing others the same value I see in cakes, we help others build themselves through my baking and decorating workshops that inspire creativity and confidence. Or they can indulge themselves by purchasing from my wide range of artisan treats from tray bakes, to cake pops to biscuits. These baked goods are unique in how they come from memories in my life; family recipes; places I’ve been; events I’ve experienced.

ROBBIE’S INSPIRATION

My late Nana gave me a cake recipe which came from my great-great-(…great!) Nana who brought the recipe back from America. She had travelled there to find her fiancé, but returned with a recipe instead. She called it ‘Forge Cake’ but we decided to rename it Forge Fiancé (as a play on the iconic French Fancy).

Through my Nana’s inspiration, baking has allowed me to regain my confidence after struggling to find work after university. Baking allowed me to keep my inner creativity alive from my years of studying design while building a thriving business. And it was through volunteering at my local community centre, Grey Lodge, that I began teaching baking workshops part-time to young adults with additional needs. This in turn, has helped them regain their own confidence and learn new life skills, just as it has for me.

I never thought this is where the story of my life would take me, and I’m very excited about it! My stories, by design, were the ingredients of my business. There’s something for everyone at ‘King Good Cakes, baked fresh from the oven with a story to tell. So now, it’s time to bake your own story!
